A Note from Principal Fitzgerald

Dear Families,

This month, we observe Women's History Month, a time to honor the incredible contributions of women throughout history. To celebrate, we will have a special assembly on Thursday, March 27th, featuring the inspiring Daphne Helvira Arthur. Please visit her website to learn more about her remarkable work: Daphne Arthur.

In addition to celebrating Women's History Month, we also have several exciting events coming up this week! On Friday, we will celebrate both Pi Day and Holi. Be sure to check ParentSquare for all the details on how we’ll be marking these fun and meaningful occasions. Pi Day is a great opportunity for us to embrace our curiosity, exploring the wonders of mathematics, while Holi offers a vibrant celebration of culture and joy—an expression of care and connection within our community.

Looking ahead, St. Patrick's Day is Monday, March 17th. Please see the ParentSquare post about marching in the Brooklyn Parade, this Sunday, March 16th, as a school and let us know if you are interested in joining!

As always, we encourage our students to approach each of these celebrations with courage—to try new things, to explore new ideas, and to engage with the world around them in meaningful ways.

We are super proud of our Kindergarten students who have been working hard on a recent Project Based Learning unit applying their knowledge from their Wit and Wisdom Module 1 All About the 5 Senses. As our resident experts on our 5 senses they have been helping us prepare for Autism Awareness Month in April by planning and creating sensory boards to be displayed in the hallways in April and at the D15 PBL showcase on Wednesday. Take a peek at our students hard at work below! Thank you to all the families who donated items for us to use to create these important community resources!

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!

Warmly,

Kathryn

The Talk, Sex Ed 2.0: A Workshop for Parents

Book Market Update

The book market is officially taking donations again! We are taking all books except picture books. We are especially in need of chapter books (all levels), graphic novels, and non-fiction (specifically I Survived series and Who Would Win series). As a reminder, we only accept books in great condition, and we do not accept board books, religious books, or workbooks. Please bring book donations to the MMR and leave the bag by the bins on the stage. Thank you, and happy reading!
