Your PTA and Fundraising

On behalf of the PTA of PS 154 Brooklyn, welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We have planned an exciting year of events and school enrichments, and would like to use this opportunity to introduce or reintroduce you to the PTA, what the organization does for PS 154, and how you can get involved.

The PTA of PS 154 Brooklyn is a 100% parent and caregiver led organization whose mission is to provide supplementary education and community services to PS 154 Brooklyn. Your PTA directly funds and organizes in-school curriculum like Music and Media Arts, direct-to-teacher funding through Teacher Grants, and other educational enrichments like Chess, Author Visits, The Book Market, and the Garden, and a variety of diverse assemblies. We also fund and organize fun & free community events like Movie Nights and Parent Workshops. Fun fact - your PTA also operates the PS 154 After School Program!

Every parent or caregiver of a PS 154 Brooklyn Student is automatically a member of the PTA! Your membership is not contingent on supporting the annual fund - everyone is welcome to participate in any PTA meetings or planning, and can help shape your neighborhood school.

We are only able to provide these supplementary services to our neighborhood school because of donations from you, the P.S. 154 Brooklyn Community. The PTA of PS 154 Brooklyn is a 501(c)(3) charity, and to continue to enhance PS 154, the PTA aims to raise ~$323,500 this year to fund this year’s enrichments and activities. We do this through fun seasonal events, like 🎡Carnival 🎟️ and 👻Boo Bash 🎃, however, we only raise half of our income from events, so the other half is from your support towards the PTA annual fund. At about 400 students, that’s about $800 per student, so we’re asking for approximately $400 per student per year in direct donations. Some families can afford more than that, and some families can afford less; please donate what you can: ps154.org/donate. We have many ways to donate; one time, recurring, and stock donations - support the PTA annual fund.

If we don’t meet this goal, we will not be able to pay for all the things the PTA supports. Let’s not be in a position where we have to stop these beloved programs. And if you want more, like more days of music, more theater or media - then we need more donations! Tell your social groups at PS 154 how important it is to donate to the PTA, attend PTA events, and get involved in the operation of the PTA!
