AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

As the weather improves, the After School program is able to make the most of the school yard with a variety of activities. This week, street hockey has been a big hit with the kids! There are still spots available for Hybrid Students on the days that they attend school. If Remote Learners are interested in meeting up with their friends in a familiar and safe setting, please consider signing them up for Outdoor Play and Flag Football. There are also some open slots in virtual clubs including Online Cartooning and Online Chess. For more information on the After School program and clubs, please contact Barbara McGouran at bmcgouranps154@gmail.com.

COMMUNITY CORNER

Our children have spent much of the last month at school learning about well known black icons, as well as less recognized figures that deserve to have their stories told during Black History Month. Please encourage your children to continue exploring through books, events and online material to keep growing their social awareness. This is the last chance to see Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)  35th Annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. which is available to enjoy for free online through Sunday, February 28. Alicia Garza, the author of The Purpose of Power and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Global Movement, gave the keynote address along with performances by PJ Morton, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, Sing Harlem!, poets Timothy DuWhite and Ashley August, and others.
