A Note from Ms. Rached
Welcome back! I hope everyone has a restful break. Iโve been hearing from students about all the adventures they had - both near and far. We are all looking forward to parent-teacher conferences next Thursday (March 7th). The document with sign-ups for each class was shared through Remind. Please reach out to Tanica if you need help accessing it. We will be sending report cards and Middle-of-Year Academic Screener Parent Reports home next Wednesday.
We are looking forward to seeing families at our Music and Media Arts Family Shares during the week of March 18-22. The dates and times will be shared through Remind and added to the website later this week.
Afterschool Update
The Afterschool Spring Semester will begin on Tuesday, April 2. Please note: Families need to re-register for extended day each semester. The Afterschool Spring Enrichment Calendar is now live, and registration opens Friday, March 1st, at 10AM.
Did you know that our afterschool program is run by our PTA? We have an active afterschool committee, who has been working hard to make sure that our afterschool program meets the needs of all of our families. Some recent changes we have made include running club semesters back-to-back (no more โgap weeksโ), adding more enrichment club vendors, and making sure we have enough extended-day seats on every grade to accommodate all families in need of afterschool care. We are working on making the enrollment process even smoother.
Our afterschool program was designed for our families and by our families, and your voice is important in our planning. Please reach out to PTA Afterschool Chair Claudia Freeman with any feedback, or if you would like to serve on our Afterschool Committee.
Black History Month: Assembly - AbunDance Academy of the Arts
We were thrilled to host the AbunDance Academy of the Arts this Monday for special assemblies. Our students had the opportunity to discover the beauty of African dancing, drumming, and movement while also learning about Black Excellence and its profound cultural significance.
You can find out about all of our Black History Month programming at our Black History Month webpage.
๐ฃ Save the Date: In-Person Parent Digital Safety Workshop - March 12th, 6-7:30 PM ๐ฃ
In response to PS154 family requests, weโre thrilled to announce an upcoming parent/caregiver workshop dedicated to digital safety. Sponsored by the PTA, this event is open to all families and will equip you with essential strategies to ensure our childrenโs online safety and well-being. Stay tuned for further details!

Capture the moment by sharing your photos with us! Email them to pta_info@ps154.org or tag us at PS154Brooklyn on Facebook & Instagram. Your contributions help make this year truly memorable. Thank you for being a part of our vibrant school community!
๐ Spirit Day: Leap to the Past - 80โs/90โs Attire! - Thursday, Feb 29th!๐
๐ฐ๏ธ Join the Fun - Leap to the Past!
To celebrate leap year, let's rewind to the iconic 80s and 90s on Thursday, Feb 29th! Encourage your child to dress up in 80s or 90s fashion, channeling the pop culture gems from classic movies and music to unforgettable fashion trends. Think neon colors, oversized sweaters, leg warmers, or styles of iconic artists that made the 80s and 90s so unforgettable. If your child isn't feeling the 80's/90's vibe, they can still show school spirit by wearing their school shirt!
๐Spirit Day: Pi Day - A Day to Show Your Math Spirit - Thursday, March 14th!๐
On Thursday, March 14th, we'll be celebrating International Pi Day! Join us in embracing the mathematical constant ฯ (pi) with a day filled with fun activities and a chance to show your spirit. Have your child wear something related to math, science, or ฯ - whether it's a shirt with ฯ printed on it, an outfit in the colors of ฯ (blue & white), or even dressing up as their favorite mathematician or scientist.
Fun fact: Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, and physicist Stephen Hawking was born on March 14, 1942, making Pi Day their shared birthday. Another fun fact: Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) worldwide because the first three digits of ฯ are 3.14.
Let's make this day as unique as the number itself!
Spring Auction - Donations Needed!
Itโs February and March is right around the corner โ and we are busy planning the Spring Auction, one of our biggest fundraisers of the year! Can you help?
We need donations! Are you willing to donate an item or experience for a silent auction? Please fill out this short form to let us know. You might be surprised at all the creative ways you can give. Examples include donating your professional skills (a lesson, consultation, the product of your work, etc.), a gift card to a local business, tickets to a game or show, backstage access, a stay in your vacation home, or a nice holiday gift you got but donโt want, to name a few. Ask a friend, too! Or please pass on a name or idea via the form and we can get in touch.
Contribute to your gradeโs gift basket. This year, weโre also asking each grade to create a gift basket for auction built around a specific theme. Think about what small items you could contribute that go with these themes. Class parents will reach out to coordinate.
K - Itโs Wine O' Clock
1 - Game Night
2 - Pamper Me
3 - Lifeโs A Beach
4 - Feeling Zen
5 - Slumber Party
Which grade will make the best basket that brings in the most at auction? Itโs up to you!
