A Note from Principal Fitzgerald

Dear P.S. 154 Families,

I am filled with gratitude as I write to you in this season of thanksgiving. It is an incredible honor to be officially joining the P.S. 154 community as your fully appointed principal. From the moment I arrived, I have been deeply moved by the warmth, care, and support shown by our families, staff, and students. Your kindness has made this transition truly special, and I am so thankful to be part of this vibrant school.

At P.S. 154, we are guided by the core values of care, curiosity, and courage, which are evident in every corner of our school. From the way we nurture one another’s growth to the joy and enthusiasm with which our students approach learning, these values shape the heart of our community. Together, we will continue to cultivate a space where every child feels seen, inspired, and empowered to embrace new challenges with courage and curiosity.

As we gather with loved ones during this time of year, let us also celebrate the incredible community we have built here at P.S. 154. I look forward to working with you to ensure that our school remains a place of connection, growth, and joy for all.

With gratitude,

Kathryn

A note from Mr. Buckley

Hello, PS 154 community.  I would like to thank the members of the PTA and all of our PS 154 families for the thoughtful sympathy gift in response to my father’s passing this past month. I have often leaned on this extended family through difficult times. I will always be grateful to be a member of a community that looks after one another with care and compassion. I truly appreciate all of your support!

Annual PS 154 Community Cares Fund Drive

Each year, the PTA raises funds for families within our PS 154 community who are struggling financially. Our aim is to help make the holiday season a little brighter and easier for our neighbors and friends. We are asking for families with a little extra to share to contribute to the PS 154 Community Cares Fund Drive.

Every donation will go directly to families, allowing them to purchase both winter essentials and holiday gifts for their kids. Your contribution isn’t just a gift; it’s a message that they are not alone and that their community stands with them.

Let’s show the strength of our PS 154 family by lifting each other up. The deadline to contribute is Monday, December 3rd, 2024.  Thank you in advance for opening your hearts and your wallets. Together, we can spread warmth, hope, and the true spirit of giving this holiday season.

DONATE TO COMMUNITY CARES DRIVE

While online donations are strongly preferred, we also welcome donations of cash or checks, which can be dropped off with Kelly Pearn in the main office on weekdays before 2 p.m. For checks, please make them payable to The PTA of PS 154, with “Community Cares” noted in the memo.

If you are a PS 154 family experiencing difficulties with basic needs, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to Tanica. We are here to support each other, and you are not alone. This season, let’s come together to make sure every family in our community feels the warmth, care, and kindness that defines PS 154. Thank you for your generosity!

Music and Enrichment Class Parent Shares

Parents in grades 1-5! Come join us in the classroom for an opportunity to see what your child has been doing in their PTA-sponsored music and media arts classes this semester. The schedule for all classes is below:

Winter Market - Sat, Dec 7

Mark your calendars! The PTA of PS 154 will be hosting its annual Winter Market on December 7th, 1-5 PM

What’s Happening:

If you are interested in signing up as a vendor, please use the sign-up form.

Please reach out Grace Ciaccia with questions.

Donate to the PS154 Book Market!

The Book Market is once again opening up collections for books in good-go-great condition! We are especially looking for non-fiction (e.g., Who Would Win books), historical fiction (e.g., I Survived series), chapter books for all ages, and -you guessed it- graphic novels! Please drop off all donations in the MMR and place in the book market donation bin on the stage!

Additionally, we’re looking for community help in removing books we won’t be using in the book market. We have countless fresh direct bags full of books that can be donated elsewhere (e.g., placed in Little Libraries, donated to preschools) and we need your help. If you’re able to grab a bag and distribute it, please reach out to Sabrina Baronberg (sabrinabaronberg@gmail.com).
