A Note from Ms. Rached
I hope all of our families had a restful and restorative Thanksgiving. As always, we are thankful for all that YOU bring to our community! Today we had the first our Open Classrooms in Music and Media Arts, and we are looking forward to the rest of them next week (check the schedule at ps154.org/events for dates and times!). Please note that we had a date change for the 3rd grade Open Classroom. Our music and media arts classes are funded entirely through PTA donations.
Thank you for your patience and diligence with our pause on classroom snacks. In addition to the pause on classroom snacks, some of the other preventative measures have been storing all food in airtight well-sealed containers, and routine upkeep to our 115-year old building. A huge thank you to our classroom staff, custodial team, and PTA for your help with this! We are pleased to let you know that the pause has ended, and that we can resume classroom snacks.
Kindergarten Open House Tours
We are excited to announce that we are hosting Kindergarten Open House Tours in December! If you know any families who might be interested in joining our community, please encourage them to sign up for the tour. This is a great chance for prospective families to explore our classrooms, meet our dedicated teachers, and discover what makes PS154 a special place for learning and growth.

Book Market - Call for Graphic Novels & Chapter Books! 📚 📢 📕
We are accepting graphic novel and chapter book donations (for all ages) . Please bring your gently used books and drop them into the blue bins labeled “Book Market Donation Bins” on the stage in the MMR.
Do not donate other book types for the time being - other book genres will be donated externally immediately as we do not have capacity to take them.
Feel free to send back any graphic novels or chapter books previously sourced from the Book Market as well (if your child is ready to part with them!).
5th Grade Update
Class Dues
Wow, 5th Grade Superstars and Supporters 🌟🏆!
We're excited to report that your dedication has helped us reach over 90% of families who've submitted their 5th Grade Dues! 🚀
We're on the cusp of reaching the 100% mark, and we're calling on all families who haven't yet submitted their child's dues to come on board. Let’s make this year epic - submit your child’s dues TODAY! Let’s cross that finish line together.
Thanks for being a vital part of the 5th-grade journey! 🌟🏆. We appreciate your amazing support!
Middle School Preparation
Join us in preparing your child for Middle School:
Your child’s Middle Schools Application must be submitted by December 8th!
Learn how to setup your MySchools account - creation codes were sent home in your student’s backpack.
Lunch Form
As you may know, we ask families to fill out a Family Income Inquiry form each school year. The Family Income inquiry form is a key factor in determining whether our school receives funding.
If you have not yet done so, please complete your form today! This form is quicker and easier than before! This form should be completed for each family, if your child eats school lunch or not. If you need assistance please do not hesitate to contact the PS154 Parent Coordinator, Tanica Gordon.
Community Corner
Coat and Clothing Drive
PS 154 is partnering up with another school in our district that has enrolled a large number of students in temporary housing. We are collecting coats and clothing to make sure these students can stay warm this winter.
Currently, we are accepting all donations but are especially in need of extra small and small children's winter gear. Jackets, hoodies, sweat suits, sweaters and any variety of layered winter clothing would also be greatly appreciated. Socks and underwear of all sizes are also needed but must be new—we are unable to accept used undergarments.
Drop Off ends Friday, December 1st. Please drop off donations during first period in the PS 154 administrative office.
*If anyone has trouble with dropping off items they can contact the PTA Volunteer Coordinator, Sheila Fedele, to help coordinate a pickup.
