A Note from Ms. Rached

Parent-Teacher Conferences + 1/2 Day

We are so excited to see everyone (on our screens!) for conferences on Thursday. Please see below for some notes about the day:

Dismissal will be at 11:40.

There will no afterschool programming.

Lunch periods will be moved to much earlier in the day (from 9:30-10:50) and students will be able to get school lunch if they want.

Please reach out to your childโ€™s teacher if you have not yet scheduled your conference.

Family Mornings! Nov. 10-17

We are delighted to invite families for our first family mornings! We will be spreading our family morning across a week (+ a day) so that the number of building visitors is manageable. For our November Family Mornings, students will paint on a Diwali diyya (oil lamp). Diwali originated as a Hindu celebration of light, and is celebrated in Southern and Southeast Asia, and across the world. During Family Mornings, we are inviting one parent per child to come into the classrooms during first period, to participate and help with the activity.

Please see below for the Family Morning Schedule:

Friday, November 10: Kindergarten

Monday, November 13: 2nd Grade

Tuesday, November 14:  1st Grade

Wednesday, November 15:  5th Grade

Thursday, November 16:  3rd Grade

Friday, November 17:  4th Grade

New Nurse

We are delighted to welcome Kemba Vance as our new school nurse. She can be reached at NurseKemba@ps154.org or by using ext 3 on our main line.

Book Market - Call for (only) Graphic Novels! ๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ“ข ๐Ÿ“•

We are accepting only graphic novel donations. Graphic novels are loved across all grades and weโ€™d like to build up our graphic novel library as we get ready for November book market visits. Please bring your gently used graphic novels and drop them into the blue bins labeled โ€œBook Market Donation Binsโ€ on the stage in the MMR. Do not donate any other book types other than graphic novels for the time being - other book genres will be donated externally immediately as we do not have capacity to take them. Feel free to send any graphic novels previously sourced from the Book Market back (if your child is ready to part with them!).
